Born in Pouy, Gascony, on the 24th of April 1581, Vincent De Paul was ordained a priest on the 23rd of September 1600 in Château-l’Évêque. Initially, he was a parish priest in Paris, later becoming a chaplain to the Gondi family. He dedicated himself entirely to helping the poor and for this purpose, he founded the Confraternity of Charity among the laity, and later in 1625, the Congregation of the Mission, to which he entrusted the missions to the people and the task of training the clergy. Furthermore, with the collaboration of Saint Louise de Marillac, he founded the Company of the Daughters of Charity. He died in Paris on the 27th of September 1660. He was beatified on the 13th of August 1729 and was canonized on the 16th of June 1737. Leo XIII proclaimed him the patron of all charitable works.
Invitatory Antiphon: Come let us worship the Lord who preaches His joyful message to the Poor.
Hymn
Vincent on high, you guide us now
Showing the way with heavenly light
Your virtue marks the surest road
Leading to immortality.
Chastity dear to virgins' Spouse
Your body sanctified to Him:
Virtues in concert eagerly
Adorned your pure and upright soul.
Hence comes that charming modesty
Distrust of self, self-obloquy:
Hence that accustomed gentleness,
That candor and simplicity.
O'er all, however, leaping up
Charity blazes flame on flame.
How many poor it feeds with bread!
How many hearts subdues to Christ!
Aflame with zeal you spread the word
Of God to all the farms around,
Yet fail not in your loving care
The souls of earth's illustrious.
Error perceived you orthodox
Repulsing subterfuge with faith:
Evil met with hostility
And powerless gave up the fight.
Under your wings a progeny
Gathers to emulate your work:
Master and guide you teach them well
By word and deed and rule of life.
To Him, eternal recompense
Given for glowing charity
True God one in persons three
Praise and eternal glory be. Amen.
Antiphon 1: Your priests, Lord, shall be clothed with holiness; your faithful shall ring out their joy.

Concluding Prayer
O God, Who instilled Your priest Saint Vincent de Paul,
with the spirit of the Apostles,
to work for the service of the poor
and the instruction of the clergy,
may we, who follow his example,
animated by the same fervor,
continue the mission of Your Son in the world,
Who lives and reigns with You, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God forever and ever.
Hymn
What new rejoicing triumphs now in heaven?
Let hymns resound the celestial acclaim:
Light of the clergy, father of the needy
See now in splendor.
Vincent, your actions now are your adornment:
Charity crowns you with most precious jewels;
You who on earth were clothed in humble raiment
Go now in glory.
Truths you once taught the lowliest peoples
Now are revealed to you in all their beauty;
What to the poor your hand dispensed so freely
Heaven exchanges.
Priests, even now, in following your precepts
Spread far and wide glad tidings of Christ;
Through you the vineyard yields a richer harvest
Holy and joyful.
What floods of glory given by your daughters,
Virgins all pure, and their companion mothers!
Like you, rejoicing in the poor their masters
Servants most faithful!
Pure heart, who raised up misery and weakness
Learn now to hear the prayers of mankind:
With friendly tumult all the earth's forsaken
Claim you, their patron.
Honour supreme to the eternal Father
And to the Son, consoler of the wretched,
And to the Spirit, Three in equal glory,
Praise be forever. Amen.
Antiphon 1: Blessed is he whom you choose, Lord, and call to dwell in your courts.
PSALM 14 (15)
Lord, who shall be admitted to your tent
and dwell on your holy mountain?
He who walks without fault;
he who acts with justice
and speaks the truth from his heart;
he who does not slander with his tongue;
he who does no wrong to his brother,
who casts no slur on his neighbor,
who holds the godless in disdain,
but honors those who fear the Lord;
he who keeps his pledge, come what may,
who takes no interest on a loan
and accepts no bribes against the innocent
Such a man will stand firm forever.
Antiphon 1: Blessed is he whom you choose, Lord, and call to dwell in your courts.
Antiphon 2: Open-handed, he gives to the poor; his justice stands firm forever.
PSALM 111 (112)
Happy the man who fears the Lord,
who takes delight in all his commands,
His sons will be powerful on earth;
the children of the upright are blessed.
Riches and wealth are in his house:
his justice stands firm forever.
He is a light in the darkness for the upright:
he is generous, merciful and just.
The good man takes pity and lends
he conducts his affairs with honour
The just man will never waver
he will be remembered, forever.
He has no fear of evil news:
With a firm heart he trusts in the Lord;
With a steadfast heart he will not fear;
he will see the downfall of his foes.
Open-handed, he gives to the poor;
his justice stands firm forever.
His head will be raised in glory.
The wicked man sees and is angry
grinds his teeth and fades away;
the desire of the wicked leads to doom.
Antiphon 2: Open-handed, he gives to the poor; his justice stands firm forever.
Antiphon 3: The Lord has given him unending glory; his name shall be in everlasting remembrance.
CANTICLE: REV 15:3-4
Great and wonderful are your deeds.
O Lord God the Almighty!
Just and true are your ways,
O King of the ages!
Who shall not fear and glorify your name, O Lord?
For you alone are holy.
All nations shall come and worship you,
for your judgments have been revealed.
Antiphon 3: The Lord has given him unending glory; his name shall be in everlasting remembrance.
