The Parish Church at Poovam in the diocese of Kannur, (formerly it belonged to the undivided Calicut Diocese) was constructed by an Italian Jesuit Priest, Fr. Zucole and was later entrusted to the care of Saletians. But, in 1996, the Bishop of Calicut handed over the parish temporarily to the Congregation of the Mission and Fr. Sebastian Kunnathoor was appointed the father in-charge. The Vincentians continue to take care of this parish.
